ACS POLICIES, TERMS AND CONDITIONS

 The following are Auto Computer Specialist’s (ACS) General Policies, Terms, and Conditions applicable to all ACS services. For more detailed service-specific information, please refer to our other dedicated policies. Thank you for your attention. 📚

General Policies, Terms & Conditions

 

The following document outlines the complete Terms, Conditions, and Policies that govern all services performed by Auto Computer Specialist (ACS), including but not limited to ECU Repairs, Programming, Testing, Remanufacturing, and Data Transfers. Our goal is to maintain transparency, ensure mutual protection, and set clear expectations for all service engagements. 


 

Refund Policy

Due to the labor-intensive and technical nature of our work, ACS does not offer refunds for most services once work has commenced. Our technicians immediately allocate resources—including time, licensed software, and parts—based on your submission. Refunds are NOT available for:

  • Repair and Rebuild Services: Our technicians begin service based on the information and DTCs you provide. We rely on your accurate diagnosis to identify the problem; ACS does not diagnose issues for you.
  • Programming : Once performed, this service becomes permanently tied to your unit. Due to the use of licensed software, dedicated tools, and irreversible processes, refunds are not available once programming has occurred.
  • Testing Services: All testing procedures involve dedicated technician labor and advanced diagnostic equipment. Even when no fault is found, the time and tools used are real costs, making testing fees non-refundable. 
  • Cloning Services / Data Transfers: These are performed on a per-unit basis and are non-reversible. 
  • Shipping and Handling Fees: Once your order has been picked up by a carrier, these fees are considered completed services and are non-refundable under all circumstances. 
  • Modified or Tampered Units: If a unit is returned after being opened or altered, no refund will be granted.
     

Replacement Unit Returns & Restocking

ACS allows returns for full refunds under the following conditions:

  • Return is initiated within 14 days of delivery. 
  • Plastic seal and warranty stickers must be completely intact. 
  • Unit must not be installed or tampered with in any way.
     

If these conditions are not met, a 60% restocking fee will apply. This includes returns due to incorrect diagnosis or misuse.


Testing Purposes Clarification 🚫 ACS units may not be used for trial and error. We define “Testing Purposes” as receiving a unit, installing it without sufficient diagnostic evidence, claiming it didn’t work, and requesting a refund. Such returns are ineligible for full refund and will incur the standard restocking fee.

 

Service Requirements Before Sending a Unit

To prevent delays and reduce errors, all customers must:

  • Perform a vehicle scan and record relevant DTCs. 
  • Complete the ACS Service Form and include it with your shipment. 
  • Remove all aftermarket performance tunes from the ECU. ACS is not liable for any loss of such software.
     

Turnaround Times (Excluding Shipping)

All turnaround times begin only after the unit and all required documentation are received:

  • Repair/Rebuild (excluding A50/T14): 3–5 Business Days 
  • Remanufacture Services: 3–5 Business Days 
  • Programming / Cloning Services: 1–5 Business Days 
  • Wire Harness Restoration: 10–15 Business Days
     

Delays may occur due to workload, supplier issues, or unforeseen complications. Please plan accordingly.


Testing Fee Schedule

Minimum Testing Fee (non-refundable):

  • Gas ECUs: $100.00 
  • Light/Medium-Duty Diesel: $148.88 – $248.88 
  • Heavy-Duty Diesel: $248.88 – $448.88
     

If you prepay more than the actual fee, any balance will be refunded.


Shipping Terms

ACS is not responsible for delays or damages caused by third-party carriers. Customers are encouraged to use shipping insurance and track all shipments.

  • Shipping charges are the customer’s responsibility unless explicitly stated otherwise. 
  • Return labels are not provided for warranty or refund returns. 
  • Free Ground Shipping may be available for qualifying U.S. orders (within the lower 48 states). 
  • International customers must supply prepaid UPS labels for all shipments.

WARRANTY, RETURNS / REFUND POLICIES, TERMS, and CONDITIONS

The following policies are ACS's Warranty Policies, Terms, and Conditions that apply to all ACS services. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

 

ACS stands behind the quality of our services with a Limited Lifetime / Unlimited Mileage Warranty for all Repair, Rebuild, and Replacement services performed on or after June 15, 2022. Warranty coverage is non-transferable.

🛠 Warranty Coverage Includes:

  • Units must be returned for evaluation. 
  • A 5-business day turnaround is typical for warranty cases. 
  • Customer pays shipping both ways. 
  • Only the original work performed by ACS is covered. 
  • First warranty case may include credit toward a replacement unit.
     

🎥 Warranty Validation for “Test Units”:
If a customer claims a unit is faulty, a single uninterrupted video must show the following:

  1. A fully programmed unit working in the vehicle (with visible VIN). 
  2. The installation of the ACS-rebuilt/reman unit. 
  3. The rebuilt/reman unit not functioning.
    This video is required to support warranty claims.
     

🔒 Warranty Exclusions Include:

  • Damage caused by misuse, installation errors, short circuits, or environmental exposure. 
  • Losses due to improper battery terminals or failure to follow TSBs with OEM parts. 
  • Altered, tampered, or opened units. 
  • Aftermarket modifications or accessories. 
  • Any unpaid balance or declined prorated service voids the warranty.
     

🔧 Service-Specific Warranty Notes:

  • Repair/Rebuild Units: May be returned once for repair under warranty before prorated charges apply (requires proof of vehicle-side repairs). 
  • Replacement (Remanufactured) Units: Core must be returned within 14 days. Lifetime Warranty covers only one replacement during ownership. 
  • Harness Restorations: Covered under a 3-month or 3,000-mile warranty (whichever comes first). Warranty voided if the harness is altered.
