Service Terms, Conditions & Policies

 Effective July 16, 2025 | Applies to All ACS Services

Introduction

Auto Computer Specialist (ACS) is committed to providing transparent, high-quality ECU services. These Terms & Conditions govern all services performed by ACS, including ECU Repair, Rebuild, Remanufacturing, Programming, Testing, Cloning, and Wire Harness Restoration. By using our services, you agree to the policies outlined below. 

Refund Policy

Due to the specialized and non-reversible nature of our work, ACS does not offer refunds once service has begun. Our technicians allocate time, software licenses, and parts immediately upon receiving your unit. This policy ensures fairness and helps us maintain the high standards our customers expect. 


The following services are strictly non-refundable:

  1. Repair and Rebuild Services: We base our service on your provided DTCs and vehicle symptoms. ACS does not perform vehicle diagnostics.
  2. Programming Services: Once software or calibration has been applied to a module, the process is permanent and cannot be undone.
  3. Testing Services: Even when no fault is found, the technician’s time and tools are utilized, making testing non-refundable.
  4. Cloning & Data Transfer: These services are unique per unit and cannot be reversed.
  5. Shipping & Handling: Shipping costs are considered a completed service once the item is scanned by the carrier.
  6. Tampered Units: Refunds are not issued for any ECU that has been opened, altered, or damaged after return.

Return & Restocking Policy (Replacement Units Only)

Returns are accepted only for Remanufactured Replacement Units, and only under the following conditions:

  1. The return is initiated within 14 days of delivery. 
  2. The unit is unused, uninstalled, and sealed (all warranty stickers intact). 
  3. The unit has not been altered or energized in any way.
     

Returns that do not meet these requirements will be subject to a 60% restocking fee, which also applies to returns resulting from incorrect diagnosis or customer error.


Please note that ACS products may not be used for trial-and-error diagnosis. Installing a unit to “see if it works” without verified ECU failure or root cause correction violates our policy. Such returns will be denied or restocked at partial value.

Pre-Service Requirements

To ensure accurate service and timely turnaround, all customers are required to:

  1. Submit a complete vehicle scan with all DTCs relevant to the issue. 
  2. Complete the official ACS Service Form and include it in the shipment. 
  3. Remove any aftermarket tunes or flash software prior to submission.
     

ACS is not responsible for the loss of performance tunes or non-OEM software. We do not restore or preserve third-party calibration data during service.

Estimated Turnaround Times

Turnaround times begin once both the ECU and completed documentation are received. Approximate timelines are:

  1. Repair / Rebuild (excluding A50/T14 units): 3–5 business days 
  2. Remanufacturing: 3–5 business days 
  3. Programming / Cloning: 1–5 business days 
  4. Wire Harness Restoration: 10–15 business days
     

Delays may occur due to technician workload, parts availability, or unforeseen issues. Customers should plan for reasonable downtime and check tracking updates regularly.

Testing Fees

All ECU testing is performed using professional-grade simulation tools and requires skilled technician labor, regardless of whether faults are found. These services are billable and non-refundable.

Standard testing fees include:

  • Gasoline ECUs: $100.00 
  • Light/Medium-Duty Diesel: $148.88 – $248.88 
  • Heavy-Duty Diesel: $248.88 – $448.88
     

If your prepaid amount exceeds the final testing fee, any overage will be refunded promptly.

Shipping Terms

ACS is not liable for any damage, delay, or loss caused by third-party shipping carriers. All shipping is at the customer's risk, and we strongly recommend using insured and trackable methods.

  1. All shipping fees are the responsibility of the customer, unless stated otherwise. 
  2. We do not provide return labels for warranty or refund cases. 
  3. Free Ground Shipping may be offered on qualifying orders within the lower 48 U.S. states. 
  4. International customers must submit prepaid UPS labels for both inbound and outbound shipments.
     

Shipping costs remain non-refundable even in the event of a return, exchange, or denied service.

ACS Lifetime Warranty

ACS offers a Limited Lifetime Warranty with Unlimited Mileage on qualifying Repair, Rebuild, and Remanufactured (Replacement) services performed on or after June 15, 2022. This warranty is exclusive to the original purchaser and is non-transferable. 

Warranty Coverage

  • Covers only the original work performed by ACS.
  • Includes one in-warranty repair or service, provided the root cause has been addressed. 
  • The first warranty incident may qualify for credit toward a replacement unit, if repair is not feasible.
  • Remanufactured units are eligible for one replacement during the ownership of the original vehicle.
  • All units must be returned to ACS for inspection before any warranty coverage can be applied.


Required Proof for “Test Unit” Claims If a claim is based on a non-functioning replacement, you must submit a single continuous video that clearly shows:

  • The original ECU working (with visible VIN),
  • The installation of the ACS-supplied ECU,
  • The failed behavior of the ACS unit post-installation.


Without this footage, your warranty claim may be denied.

Warranty Exclusions

 Warranty is voided by any of the following:

  • Installation into a vehicle with unresolved root issues (e.g., shorted alternators, faulty grounds, or active TSBs). 
  • Damage from improper installation, voltage spikes, corrosion, or water intrusion. 
  • Any tuning, modification, or third-party tampering post-service. 
  • Missing warranty labels or evidence of physical opening. 
  • Any unpaid invoices or declined prorated repair charges.

Service-Specific Terms

  •  Repair & Rebuild Units may be serviced once under warranty. Additional attempts may require prorated fees. 
  • Reman Replacement Units must have cores returned within 14 days to maintain eligibility. One lifetime replacement is allowed per VIN. 
  • Wire Harness Restorations are covered for 3 months or 3,000 miles, whichever comes first. Warranty is void if the harness is altered or modified after delivery.

Privacy Policy 🔐

ACS respects your privacy and maintains secure protocols for all customer data. When interacting with our website or services, you may be asked to provide personal information such as your name, contact info, vehicle details, or payment data


We use this information to process orders, respond to inquiries, and improve your service experience. Occasionally, you may receive service updates or promotional emails, which you can unsubscribe from at any time.


Your data is never sold or rented. Information is only shared with third-party vendors (e.g., shipping or payment platforms) to fulfill your service request, and all partners are bound by confidentiality agreements. We implement secure encryption and access controls to protect your information.


By using our website and services, you consent to this privacy policy.

Final Provisions

By submitting your unit for service, you confirm that you have authority to do so and agree to these terms. ACS is not responsible for unrelated vehicle problems, labor costs, or damages caused by misdiagnosis.
